OCT 17:Minister Satish Sharma conducted a detailed visit to the Tanchabagh and Kadalbal sports grounds in Pampore, where he assessed the existing infrastructure, interacted with local youth and sportspersons, and announced a series of developmental measures to strengthen sports facilities in the area. The visit underscores the government’s broader vision to create world-class grassroots sports infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir, empowering youth through sports and recreation.
During his interaction, Minister Sharma appreciated the enthusiasm and sporting spirit of Pampore’s youth, calling them the “real ambassadors of progress and unity.” He assured that the government is committed to nurturing talent at the local level by providing the best possible infrastructure and training support.
Announcing a set of key upgrades, the Minister revealed that both Tanchabagh and Kadalbal grounds will soon be equipped with high-mast floodlights, modern washrooms, players’ rest areas, and improved seating facilities. These initiatives aim to make the venues suitable for evening tournaments and community sports activities, creating greater opportunities for young athletes.
He also emphasized that the Department of Youth Services and Sports is working in coordination with district administrations to identify and upgrade sports grounds in rural and semi-urban areas, ensuring equitable access to facilities across all regions. Sharma stated that developing sports infrastructure is a crucial part of the government’s mission to channel youth energy toward positive engagement, teamwork, and fitness.
The Minister encouraged young players to utilize these upgraded facilities to hone their skills and represent Jammu and Kashmir at state and national levels. He also highlighted upcoming initiatives in coaching, inter-district tournaments, and sports scholarships for meritorious players.
