JULY 31: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) observed Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 from 16th July to 31st July 2025 at its headquarters and through its network of attached/subordinate offices and autonomous bodies across the country. This initiative, held annually under the guidance of the Cabinet Secretariat and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, underscores the Government of India’s ongoing commitment to realizing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and hygienic India.
The observance commenced with a pledge-taking ceremony on 16th July, led by Shri Rajit Punhani, Secretary of MSDE, in the presence of senior officials. Similar ceremonies were held in regional offices, ensuring active participation at all levels nationwide.
Throughout the fortnight, extensive cleanliness drives were undertaken across the Kaushal Bhawan premises, including workspaces and washrooms, to promote hygiene and operational efficiency. A special plantation drive led by the Secretary and senior officers added a green dimension to the campaign, emphasizing sustainable practices.
To engage and inspire participation, painting and slogan-writing competitions on the theme of “Swachhata” were organized. These saw enthusiastic involvement from ministry staff, making them a resounding success.
Reaching beyond the office walls, the ministry also conducted community awareness campaigns. Sessions were held to educate auto-rickshaw drivers and food stall vendors in the vicinity on the importance of cleanliness. Additionally, a dedicated awareness drive was conducted to discourage the use of single-use plastics.
The campaign concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony on 31st July. Top performers in the competitions were honored, and safai mitras were recognized with appreciation kits for their indispensable contributions to maintaining cleanliness.
