OCT 07:The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest-ever school-level innovation event, is set to engage 1 crore students from classes 6 to 12 nationwide. Organized by the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, the Buildathon encourages students to ideate and build prototypes on four key themes: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat.
The Buildathon aims to instill a culture of innovation, creativity, and problem-solving among young learners, empowering them to become drivers of a prosperous, self-reliant India. The event aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, providing students with hands-on experiential learning opportunities, especially targeting schools in Aspirational Districts, Tribal Areas, and Remote Regions.
The program kicked off on September 23, 2025, with registrations open until October 11, 2025, followed by preparatory activities including team formation, mentoring, brainstorming sessions, and innovation circles. The nationwide synchronized live Buildathon will be held on October 13, 2025, streamed live across all schools and media channels. Entries will be submitted via a dedicated portal between October 13 and 31, 2025, and evaluated by experts, with results announced in January 2026.
Students participate in teams of 3–5 members, creating 2–5 minute videos showcasing their chosen problem, innovative solution, prototype, functionality, and potential impact. Mentorship support will be provided by volunteers, incubation centers, corporates, and higher education institutions to guide students throughout the process.
The Awards Pool of Rs. 1 Crore will recognize 10 National winners, 100 State-level winners, and 1,000 District-level winners, alongside long-term support through corporate adoption, mentorship, and resources to scale their innovations.
The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 represents a landmark initiative to foster innovation, community problem-solving, and technological creativity among school students, positioning India’s youth at the forefront of building a self-reliant, innovative nation.
