Anand, September 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences following a road accident in Gujarat’s Anand district on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, where a private bus and a truck collided. According to police, five people lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in the incident.
The Prime Minister’s Office shared a message on X conveying Prime Minister Modi’s condolences to the affected families and wishing a speedy recovery to those injured.
“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a mishap in Anand, Gujarat. Condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of all those injured,” the PMO said.
According to Anand Superintendent of Police G. G. Jasani, the incident occurred when the bus was reportedly attempting to overtake the truck on the expressway. The bus was carrying around 30 to 40 passengers at the time.
Police and emergency personnel reached the location following the incident and initiated the necessary response. Authorities have also begun an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Prime Minister Modi conveyed his sympathies to the families affected by the incident and prayed for the recovery of those receiving medical care.
The incident has also brought attention to the importance of following road-safety measures while travelling on major highways and expressways.
