11 May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first PM MITRA Park in Warangal, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s textile manufacturing sector and boosting industrial development.
The PM MITRA Park has been developed as part of the government’s vision to create world-class textile infrastructure with integrated facilities for manufacturing, processing, and export activities. Officials stated that the project is expected to enhance India’s competitiveness in the global textile market.
Addressing the event, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the textile industry in generating employment, supporting exports, and promoting economic growth. He said the PM MITRA initiative aims to provide modern infrastructure and an integrated ecosystem for textile industries under a single platform.
According to officials, the park in Warangal will help attract investment, encourage industrial expansion, and create large-scale employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women. The integrated model is also expected to reduce logistics costs and improve operational efficiency for textile manufacturers.
The PM MITRA scheme focuses on establishing large textile parks with plug-and-play infrastructure, common utilities, and advanced connectivity to support the entire textile value chain from raw material to finished products.
Authorities noted that Telangana has emerged as an important destination for industrial and textile investments due to its connectivity, skilled workforce, and supportive infrastructure. The Warangal textile park is expected to strengthen the region’s industrial profile and contribute to local economic development.
The government believes the initiative will support India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for textile and apparel manufacturing while increasing exports and promoting the “Make in India” vision.
Industry experts have welcomed the project, stating that integrated textile parks can significantly improve production efficiency and create opportunities for small and medium enterprises linked to the textile sector.
