SRINAGAR, MARCH 23: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review status of development works and re-appropriation of funds under Capex Budget 2022-23.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir, Special Secretary SDD and other officers. Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, Director Skill Development Department, concerned.
Principals and Superintendents of Government Polytechnics and ITIs of Jammu/Kashmir attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Dr Samoon sought details from the concerned officers about the latest details both in terms of physical and financial reports of various ongoing works in different Polytechnics/ITIs of Jammu and Kashmir.
Principal Secretary asked the officers to accelerate the pace of progress on works to ensure their timely completion with full utilization of funds earmarked under Capex Budget 2022-23. He also asked the concerned to submit the proposal for re-appropriation of funds in respect of the works as per the instructions of the Finance Department.
He directed the concerned officers to take appropriate measures for execution of new works under both the sectors ‘Polytechnics as well as ITIs’ to ensure maximum utilization of overall funds allotted under Capex Budget.
Regarding establishment of Small Business Development Units in various Polytechnics and ITIs, Dr Samoon asked the officers to ensure that all arrangements like furniture and IT related equipments are made available there for effective functioning.
Regarding establishment of hostels in the Polytechnic, Dr Samoon directed the officers to work in synergy so that they are completed and made available for the benefit of the students. He directed the concerned heads of the executing agencies to expedite the remaining ongoing works so that the buildings would be handed over to the department at the earliest.
Dr Samoon further asked the Director Skill Development Department to personally visit the Polytechnics/ITIs and review the progress on ongoing works there.
The meeting also held threadbare discussion on the Skill Budget 2023-24, training of 60000 women Self Help groups, Back to Village phase IV and Centrally Sponsored Schemes among other things.
