OCT 12:The Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department (RDPRD) successfully organized live streaming of the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) launch, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, across Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from farmers, Panchayat officials, and agricultural officers, highlighting the government’s efforts to ensure grassroots-level engagement in national agricultural programs.
The live streaming allowed farmers in remote areas to directly witness the Prime Minister’s address and understand the objectives of PM-DDKY, which aims to enhance food security, promote sustainable agriculture, and increase farmers’ income. By leveraging digital technology, the RDPRD ensured that even small and marginal farmers could access information about scheme benefits, eligibility criteria, and application procedures in real-time.
Kishtwar and Baramulla districts were selected under the scheme as key areas to promote high-value crop cultivation, modern farming techniques, and improved market linkages. Officials highlighted that these regions possess the potential to significantly enhance agricultural productivity through interventions such as quality seed distribution, irrigation support, and crop diversification.
During the session, farmers actively interacted with officials, seeking clarifications about the scheme, subsidy provisions, and technical support. The program reinforced the importance of empowering farmers with knowledge, enabling them to adopt innovative agricultural practices aligned with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
RDPRD officials emphasized that the digital outreach strategy ensures transparency, inclusivity, and efficient dissemination of government initiatives, thereby strengthening the link between policymakers and beneficiaries. The program also showcased how technology can bridge the gap between central schemes and local implementation, making governance more participatory and effective.
With this initiative, J&K takes a major step toward sustainable agricultural growth, enhanced farmer incomes, and regional food security, while simultaneously supporting the national agenda of self-reliance in agriculture.
