Muay Thai Association of J&K Reviews Championship Plans and Association Elections
Jammu, August 9, 2026: The Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir (MAJK) convened an important meeting at the United Martial art Academy in Talab Tillo, Jammu, to review the upcoming championship calendar, organisational matters and measures to strengthen the sport across the Union Territory.
The meeting was chaired by Sahil Aggarwal, Chief Patron of the Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir, who assured members of continued support for the development of Muay Thai and the growth of athletes associated with the sport.
Amit Singh, President of the Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir, was also present along with other members of the association. The participants discussed several issues concerning upcoming competitions, administrative affairs and the future expansion of Muay Thai activities in the region.
Preparations for North Zone Muay Thai Championship
A major part of the meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming North Zone Muay Thai Championship. Members reviewed the planning requirements and discussed ways to ensure proper coordination for the event.
The proposed Kashmir Province Muay Thai Championship 2026 was also discussed. In addition, the association reviewed plans for organising district-level championships and the J&K State Muay Thai Championship, with an emphasis on providing athletes with more competitive opportunities.
Association Elections and Membership Review
The election of the Muay Thai Association of Jammu & Kashmir was another key item on the agenda. Members discussed the proposed election process and related organisational matters.
The meeting also reviewed the status of Muay Thai-related document submissions and the association’s records. Discussions were held on updating the membership database and removing non-active members, including coaches and other members, from the official records.
At the same time, members considered the induction of new and active members to broaden the association’s base and encourage greater participation in Muay Thai across Jammu & Kashmir.
Focus on Athletes and Sport Development
During the meeting, participants stressed the importance of coordination, transparency and active involvement among members. They highlighted the need to create better opportunities for local athletes to compete at district, state, national and international levels.
The association aims to strengthen the sporting ecosystem by encouraging participation, improving organisational coordination and providing athletes with more platforms to showcase their skills.
The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to further develop Muay Thai in Jammu & Kashmir. Members resolved to work together towards strengthening the association and creating improved opportunities, facilities and competitive platforms for emerging players.
With several championships and organisational activities being planned, the meeting marked another step towards expanding the reach of Muay Thai and supporting athletes across the Union Territory.
