OCT 10:Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Ms. Sakeena Itoo, inaugurated a two-day PARAKH workshop at PM Shri High School Yaroo, D.H. Pora, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming the education landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event, organized under the PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focuses on improving learning outcomes, strengthening assessment systems, and promoting student-centered education across the Union Territory.

In her address, Ms. Itoo emphasized that education is the foundation of social progress and empowerment. She stated that the government is fully committed to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education to every child in Jammu and Kashmir. The Minister highlighted the importance of assessment reforms under PARAKH, noting that the initiative encourages competency-based learning rather than rote memorization.

During the inaugural function, Ms. Itoo also distributed regularisation orders to Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs), recognizing their long-standing contributions to the education sector. She assured continued support for all education staff and reiterated that the government values the role of teachers and non-teaching personnel in shaping young minds and strengthening the education ecosystem.

The workshop brought together teachers, educational officers, and school heads from various districts, who discussed strategies to align classroom practices with NEP guidelines and implement innovative teaching and evaluation methods. Experts shared insights on integrating technology, experiential learning, and formative assessments to improve student engagement and outcomes.

The Minister lauded the Department of School Education for organizing such capacity-building initiatives and urged participants to act as change agents in their respective schools. The event concluded with a pledge to collectively work towards achieving excellence, equity, and holistic growth in education across J&K.
