Preparations for the revision of Panchayat Electoral Rolls 2026 have gained momentum in Udhampur, with the Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commission intensifying on-ground monitoring.

State Election Commissioner Shantmanu visited the district to assess the progress of the revision exercise and ensure smooth implementation of the process. During his visit, he inspected special camps set up at Tikri-A, Mand East, and Garnai, interacting with officials and reviewing arrangements for voter registration and verification.

The visit aimed at evaluating the efficiency of field-level execution and identifying any challenges in updating the electoral rolls. Officials briefed the Commissioner on the ongoing activities, including addition of new voters, deletion of ineligible entries, and correction of existing records.

Later, Shantmanu chaired a detailed review meeting with district officers at Dak Bungalow Udhampur, where he emphasized the importance of accuracy and transparency in the electoral roll revision process. He directed officials to adhere to timelines and ensure that no eligible voter is left out.

The Commissioner also stressed the need for greater public awareness, urging citizens to participate actively in the revision exercise by verifying their details and submitting necessary forms within the stipulated period.

District officials assured that all necessary measures are being taken to facilitate a smooth and inclusive process, with special focus on remote areas to ensure wider coverage.
