MARCH 6: The Seven-Day NSS Winter Camp, organized by Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu, successfully concluded at the adopted village of Rakh Raipur, Satwari, on March 5, 2025. The camp, which ran from February 27 to March 5, saw active participation from NSS volunteers, who engaged in a series of community service activities aimed at benefiting the local community. The event emphasized the significance of social service and fostering a sense of responsibility among students.
The valedictory function was graced by Dr. Hema Gandotra, NSS Programme Coordinator, University of Jammu, as the Chief Guest. She praised the efforts of the volunteers, urging them to continue their service to the community while applying the NSS motto, ‘Not Me, But You,’ in their everyday lives. Dr. Gandotra also highlighted the importance of community service and its role in nation-building, motivating the students to contribute positively to society.
Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo, Principal of GCW, delivered the welcome address and spoke about the significance of NSS activities in shaping the overall personality of youth. He commended both the volunteers and faculty for their dedication to the camp and their commitment to social service. Dr. Tickoo emphasized that such activities not only help in the personal growth of the students but also foster a strong sense of social responsibility and empathy.
The event featured a vibrant cultural segment, showcasing the talents of NSS volunteers through traditional dance performances and melodious song renditions. These performances added a lively touch to the function, demonstrating the creative skills and spirit of teamwork among the students. The camp concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where volunteers who had excelled in NSS camps across the nation were recognized for their outstanding contributions. Dr. Hema Gandotra distributed certificates to the students and encouraged them to continue participating in NSS activities. She also motivated the students to take part in the My Bharat Viksit Bharat National Youth Parliament – 2025, further emphasizing the importance of active engagement in national development.
