JULY 04: Excitement and devotion fill the air as officials from the Directorate of Rural Sanitation, under the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, prepare to welcome the first group of pilgrims embarking on the sacred Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

The basecamp at Nunwan, one of the key starting points for the annual pilgrimage, is being beautifully adorned in anticipation of the pilgrims’ arrival. Local officials and volunteers are working tirelessly to ensure a smooth, safe, and culturally rich welcome for the yatris. This year, the emphasis is not only on facilities and sanitation but also on highlighting the region’s warm hospitality and vibrant traditions.

The welcoming ceremony has been thoughtfully planned to reflect the spirit of Jammu and Kashmir’s cultural heritage. Floral decorations, traditional music, and folk performances are being arranged to greet the pilgrims as they begin their spiritual journey toward the holy Amarnath cave.

Officials from the Directorate of Rural Sanitation have played a vital role in ensuring that the facilities at the basecamp are clean, hygienic, and well-managed. From sanitation services to public conveniences and clean drinking water stations, every aspect of public service is being monitored and upgraded to meet the needs of the yatris.

A senior official said, “Our team is excited and honored to welcome the first batch of pilgrims. We want them to feel not just safe and comfortable, but also embraced by the culture and hospitality of Jammu & Kashmir.”

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is a major annual religious event, attracting thousands of devotees from across the country. Its successful and smooth conduct relies heavily on coordination between various departments, with the Department of Rural Development playing a key supporting role in logistics, cleanliness, and crowd management.

As the first group of yatris makes its way to Nunwan, the basecamp stands ready with open arms and a spirit of devotion, unity, and service.
