SEP 23:Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently held a significant meeting with an Indo-Australian delegation led by Sajid Saiyed, Chairperson and Founder of the Bharat CSR Network and CEAA (Centre for Excellence in Applied AI). The discussions centered around leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects to support the holistic development of the Union Territory, particularly in flood-affected and underserved regions.

The visiting delegation presented a broad range of initiatives designed to drive long-term development in the region. Among the key proposals were the establishment of Smart Villages, deployment of AI Labs to promote digital literacy, Waste-to-Wealth programmes, water remediation solutions, community development centres, and the rehabilitation of communities affected by recent floods.

Welcoming the delegation’s interest and vision, CM Omar Abdullah expressed strong support for their proposals and underlined the need for inclusive and impactful development. He identified sports infrastructure, skill development, and greenfield projects as high-priority sectors for CSR investment in J&K.

The Chief Minister also urged the delegation to prepare concrete proposals focused on upgrading libraries, improving educational infrastructure, and introducing sustainability-focused initiatives that align with the government’s development roadmap. Emphasizing collaboration between the public and private sectors, he assured the delegation of full support from the state administration to ensure timely implementation of these projects.

CM Abdullah reaffirmed that CSR can play a transformative role in bridging gaps in public service delivery and enhancing community welfare, particularly in vulnerable areas. The government sees this partnership as a vital step towards building resilient, empowered, and digitally connected communities across Jammu and Kashmir.
