NOV 08: The Department of Commerce successfully concluded the Special Campaign 5.0 for the disposal of pending matters and improvement of work efficiency, held from 2nd to 31st October 2025. The month-long drive focused on promoting cleanliness, enhancing administrative efficiency, and ensuring timely resolution of public grievances across the Department, its PSUs, and affiliated organizations.
Throughout the campaign, consistent monitoring by the Department’s Nodal Officer and active participation from officers ensured steady progress toward the set goals. As part of the initiative, 88,385 files were reviewed and 46,255 weeded out, while 277 cleanliness drives were organized. The campaign also generated ₹70 lakh in revenue from the disposal of e-waste and scrap, freeing up 36,005 sq. ft. of office space for productive use.
Several best practices emerged from the campaign, including the installation of electric vehicle charging points at the ECGC headquarters in Mumbai, rooftop solar panels, and the development of a Zero Carbon Zone. Offices across the Department also focused on greenery enhancement, improved parking facilities, lake rejuvenation near the Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ), and digital record management initiatives.
By adopting Integrated Solid Waste Management, promoting e-waste awareness, and modernizing office spaces, the campaign strengthened the Department’s culture of clean governance and environmental responsibility.
The Special Campaign 5.0 has not only improved hygiene and efficiency across the Department of Commerce but also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to transparency, sustainability, and administrative excellence in public service.
