Srinagar, September 25: Srinagar Police has intensified its action against drug trafficking, terror-related activities and the financial networks allegedly supporting such operations, attaching or freezing four immovable properties collectively valued at around ₹6.31 crore under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UA(P) Act).
According to police, the latest action was carried out by Police Station Zakura, which attached a residential house and adjoining land at Bilal Colony, Zakura, valued at approximately ₹2.5 crore. The property belongs to Owais Ahmad Rather, son of Gh. Mohd Rather, and is linked to FIR No. 34/2026 registered under Sections 8/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Police said the property was identified during the investigation as having been acquired in connection with alleged illicit drug trafficking. It was attached under Section 68-F(1) of the NDPS Act, restricting its sale, lease, transfer, alteration or creation of any third-party interest until further orders from the competent authority.
In an earlier action, Police Station Nowgam attached property estimated at ₹2.85 crore belonging to Sheeraz Ahmed Sheikh, son of Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Wagoora, BK Pora. The action relates to FIR No. 121/2023 registered under Sections 8/15 of the NDPS Act.
The property consists of a two-storeyed concrete building, two shops and a rice mill constructed over 18 marlas of land at Wagoora, Tehsil BK Pora. Police said the attachment was undertaken under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act following approval from the competent authority.
Meanwhile, Police Station Ahmadnagar attached a residential property valued at approximately ₹1.30 crore at Danihama, Hazratbal. The property belongs to Zahoor Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gani Mir, and is connected with FIR No. 20/2026 registered under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act and various provisions of the UA(P) Act.
The property comprises a single-storeyed residential house with adjoining land measuring six marlas. Police said it was attached under Section 25 of the UA(P) Act after obtaining prior approval from the competent authority and following the prescribed legal procedure in the presence of an Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses.
In another case, Police Station Shalteng froze a single-storeyed residential house along with seven marlas of land at Check Mujgund, Srinagar, valued at approximately ₹46 lakh. The property belongs to Amir Ahmad Mir, son of Mohd. Ashraf Mir, and is linked to FIR No. 43/2023 registered under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act.
According to police, the investigation established that the property had allegedly been acquired from proceeds linked to illicit drug trafficking. It was subsequently frozen under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.
With these actions, Srinagar Police said it has attached or frozen four immovable properties with a combined estimated value of ₹6.31 crore, as part of efforts to target the financial proceeds and infrastructure allegedly connected with narcotics trafficking and terror-related activities.
Srinagar Police said it will continue efforts to identify, trace, freeze and attach properties allegedly generated through proceeds of illicit activities, with a focus on disrupting the financial networks supporting drug trafficking and terror-related operations.
The police also reiterated that lawful action against alleged drug traffickers, terror networks, their associates and financial support structures would continue.
