New Delhi, September 26: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Friday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir, including security, development, public welfare and matters related to the ongoing Assembly session.
During the meeting, Sharma briefed the Union Home Minister on the prevailing security and law-and-order situation in the Union Territory. He also highlighted development-related concerns and issues being raised by people across Jammu & Kashmir.
A key issue discussed during the interaction was the proposed enhancement of salaries of Special Police Officers (SPOs). Sharma informed Amit Shah that the matter is currently at the final stage and requested that necessary steps be taken to expedite the process so that the salary enhancement can be concluded at the earliest.
The Leader of Opposition also raised several public concerns and matters requiring continued coordination and support from the Union Government. Issues connected with the ongoing proceedings of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly were also discussed.
The meeting focused on strengthening security arrangements, accelerating development initiatives and addressing matters linked to the welfare of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Sharma also sought continued attention to issues that require intervention and coordination at the central level.
Amit Shah, during the discussion, reiterated the Union Government’s commitment towards peace, development and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir. He assured continued support and cooperation in addressing matters concerning the Union Territory and its people.
The meeting comes as issues related to security, development, employment and public welfare continue to remain important subjects of discussion in Jammu & Kashmir.
