13 May: UDHAMPUR: In a significant security measure aimed at preventing impersonation and unlawful activities, the administration in Udhampur has imposed restrictions on the misuse and illegal handling of Army uniforms and combat gear.

District Magistrate Minga Sherpa issued the order to strengthen security arrangements and curb any attempt to misuse military-style clothing or equipment for illegal purposes.

Officials said the move was taken in view of security concerns and the need to prevent unauthorized individuals from using Army uniforms or combat accessories to impersonate security personnel.

According to the order, unauthorized possession, sale, purchase, storage, or misuse of Army uniforms, combat dresses, insignia, badges, and related military gear will be strictly prohibited without proper authorization.

Authorities stated that misuse of military attire can pose serious security risks and create confusion among the public, especially in sensitive regions. The restrictions are intended to maintain public safety and ensure that military identity is not exploited for unlawful activities.

The administration has directed concerned agencies and law enforcement authorities to closely monitor compliance with the order and take appropriate action against violators under relevant legal provisions.

Officials emphasized that the measure is preventive in nature and aims to strengthen vigilance against activities that could threaten public order or national security.

Residents have been urged to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious misuse or unauthorized handling of Army-related uniforms and equipment.

Security experts note that impersonation using military uniforms can lead to criminal activities, fraud, and security breaches, making regulation and monitoring necessary in strategically important regions.

The order reflects the administration’s continued focus on maintaining law and order and strengthening security preparedness in the district.
