SEP 15:In a significant outreach initiative, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary inaugurated an awareness camp organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) at Nowshera. The event was aimed at educating workers about the wide array of welfare schemes available under the board and ensuring they receive the benefits they are entitled to.
During the camp, the Deputy CM distributed education assistance worth ₹12.76 lakh among 263 beneficiaries. These financial grants will support the education of the children of registered construction workers, easing their financial burden and encouraging continued schooling.
In addition to the education assistance, labour cards were also handed over to a number of workers. These cards are essential for availing the various schemes run by JKBOCWWB, including health, education, housing, and other social security benefits.
While addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Choudhary underscored the government’s commitment to the welfare of labourers and construction workers. He stressed the importance of 100% registration and coverage under the welfare board’s schemes. “No eligible worker should be left out. Every beneficiary must be aware of their rights and entitlements,” he said, urging local officials to proactively reach out to unregistered workers.
The event was attended by officials from the labour department, representatives of the welfare board, and a large number of workers from the region. The Deputy CM also appreciated the efforts of field officers who are facilitating the on-ground implementation of the welfare schemes.
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s resolve to uplift the lives of labourers and ensure that welfare benefits reach every corner of Jammu and Kashmir. The awareness camp at Nowshera marks yet another step in bridging the gap between government schemes and grassroots beneficiaries.
