VC DDC Kupwara lays foundation stone of WSS under JJM at Batnard Khurhama

KUPWARA, MAY 27: Vice Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir today laid the foundation stone of the Water Supply Scheme Khurhama Batnard under Central government’s prestigious flagship programme “Jal Jeevan Mission.

 

The project, estimated to cost Rs 10.50 crore, will include 500000-gallon capacity Rapid Sand filtration plant and Reservoirs aiming to benefit a population of around 15000 souls of Khurhama- A, Khurhama-B, Khurhama-C and Takia.

 

With the commencement of this project, the water shortage issue in the area is expected to be mitigated to a considerable extent.

 

The project is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to provide clean drinking water to every household, as envisioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

 

The mission aims to provide tap water supply to all rural households by 2024, ensuring drinking water security and improving the health and well-being of people in rural areas.

 

While laying the foundation stone ceremony, Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara was accompanied by Chairman BDC Wavoora, Choudhary Mohammad Rafiq Kataria; Er. Saleem, S.E Hydraulic and other engineers of JJM besides local PRIs.
