APRIL 16: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, attended the vibrant celebration of ‘Himachal Diwas’ hosted at the Jammu Kashmir Raj Bhawan. The event was organized to honor the rich cultural legacy and contributions of Himachal Pradesh and to further promote unity and integration among states and Union Territories.Special invitees for the occasion included security personnel, students, and residents of Himachal Pradesh currently living in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The evening was marked by a spirit of unity, cultural pride, and celebration of shared traditions.
Extending his heartfelt wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh, the Lieutenant Governor praised the state as “Devbhoomi,” a land blessed by nature and enriched with spiritual and cultural heritage. He acknowledged Himachal Pradesh’s emergence as a major hub for hydropower and its significant role in contributing to the region’s local economy and the nation’s overall development.
“I pray that the aspirations of the people of this state are fulfilled and Himachal keeps strengthening the nation’s growth,” said LG Sinha.
The Lieutenant Governor placed strong emphasis on the importance of increasing cultural exchanges between the States and Union Territories. He noted that such cross-cultural engagement is essential in fostering mutual understanding, dismantling social barriers, and building a cohesive national identity.
“When people from different states and regions share traditions, food, and art, they reduce division and bridge the gaps,” LG Sinha remarked. He highlighted the role of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative in encouraging these exchanges and noted the potential economic benefits such initiatives can generate.
“Cultural exchanges under this initiative can spur economic growth. Local festivals attract tourists, and cross-state collaborations help curate mega festivals, boosting community pride and supporting local economies,” he added.
The Lieutenant Governor also paid tribute to the legendary General Zorawar Singh, acknowledging his valor and strategic brilliance. He remembered the brave contributions of army personnel and other luminaries from Himachal Pradesh who have left a significant mark on India’s history.
To mark the occasion, LG Sinha released the Activity Calendar of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, signaling a continued commitment to celebrating and promoting cultural diversity and regional heritage across the Union Territory.
