May 1st:
The Directorate of Health Services (DHS) Jammu hosted the third and final contact session of the Sector Connect Training Program on Field Epidemiology in One Health (FEPOH), concluding a significant phase of cross-sectoral training aimed at improving public health resilience in Jammu & Kashmir. The program was organized in collaboration with the State Surveillance Unit, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD).
This comprehensive training brought together key stakeholders from the Health, Animal Husbandry, Wildlife, and Food Safety departments to foster an integrated public health approach. Participants from various districts showcased their field assignments, which focused on applying One Health strategies to address challenges at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health.
The session featured expert talks and interdepartmental discussions that emphasized the necessity of unified disease surveillance and response mechanisms. Presentations highlighted real-world challenges and solutions identified through fieldwork, encouraging knowledge-sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Director Health Services Jammu, praised the participants for their dedication and underscored the importance of strengthening district-level disease surveillance systems. Principal Advisor NCDC Dr. Anil Kumar reinforced the idea that the One Health approach is essential—not optional—especially given the increasing global health threats linked to zoonotic and environmental factors.
Certificates were awarded to all participants and mentors in recognition of their active engagement throughout the program. The successful completion of the FEPOH training marks a pivotal step in advancing collaborative public health infrastructure in the region.
