MAY 08: The Inter-School Zonal Level Tournament for Zone Bhalla was inaugurated today with great enthusiasm at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Berreru, under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Shri Pritam Singh.
Organized by the office of the In-Charge Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), the event brought together young sporting talent from various schools in the region. A total of 275 under-14 boys participated in the tournament, competing across several sporting disciplines including Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Chess, Carrom, and Badminton.
The sports meet was not only a platform for physical competition but also a celebration of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The playing fields buzzed with youthful energy and enthusiasm as students demonstrated their skills, determination, and collaborative spirit.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Ms. Annjeel Thakur, Principal of GHSS Berreru, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. In her address, she praised the students for their active participation and love for sports. She emphasized the value of sports in shaping well-rounded individuals and urged students to maintain a balance between academics and physical activities.
The event was coordinated by Subash Chander, I/C ZPEO Bhalla, who served as the Nodal Officer and ensured smooth planning and execution of the day’s proceedings. His efforts, along with the support of the Physical Education Lecturers (PELs), Physical Education Masters (PEMs), Physical Education Teachers (PETs), Rehbar-e-Khel (REKs), and National Youth Corps (NYCs), were central to the tournament’s success.
The inter-school tournament provided an excellent opportunity for young athletes to test their abilities and gain confidence through competitive play. The event also aimed to foster a sense of unity and healthy rivalry among students from different schools within the zone.
Such events reflect the ongoing commitment of the Department of Youth Services and Sports to promoting physical fitness and sporting excellence at the grassroots level. The district authorities plan to continue supporting youth development through structured sports programs across the region.
