MAY 16: Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing Rattle (850 MW) and Dul Hasti (390 MW) hydroelectric projects during his visit to the Kishtwar district. These two key power projects, being implemented by CVPPL and NHPC respectively, are crucial for boosting the energy infrastructure of the region.

During the site inspections, the Chief Secretary assessed the current status of construction and operations and took note of the challenges impeding timely progress. He emphasized the importance of meeting project deadlines without compromising on quality and safety standards.

Mr. Dulloo underscored the strategic significance of both the Rattle and Dul Hasti projects for ensuring long-term energy security, economic growth, and local employment generation. He directed the executing agencies to enhance coordination and redouble efforts to overcome existing bottlenecks, particularly those related to inter-agency clearances, manpower deployment, and supply chain issues.

In a high-level review meeting held with officials from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd (CVPPL), and the district administration, the Chief Secretary sought detailed timelines and action plans. He urged project stakeholders to maintain transparency, accountability, and real-time monitoring to avoid delays and cost overruns.

The Chief Secretary also interacted with engineers and project managers on-site, assuring them of full support from the government in resolving administrative or logistical hurdles. He asked district officials to facilitate smoother ground-level coordination and promptly address land, law and order, or infrastructure-related concerns that may affect the pace of work.

Highlighting the importance of hydropower in J&K’s development roadmap, Mr. Dulloo reiterated the government’s commitment to harnessing the state’s vast hydro potential in a sustainable and environment-friendly manner.

The visit concluded with renewed assurances from all agencies to adhere to the highest standards of execution and to work in close synergy to ensure the successful and timely completion of both major hydroelectric power projects.
