JUNE 03: As the region prepares for the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Azha, Minister Javid Ahmad Dar held a comprehensive review of the arrangements being made across Kashmir to ensure smooth, safe, and well-managed celebrations. The review meeting focused on key public service sectors including market regulation, electricity and water supply, sanitation, and departmental coordination.

The minister emphasized that all concerned departments must work in close synergy to provide hassle-free services to the public during the festive period. He instructed officials to intensify inspections of markets to curb overpricing, ensure quality control, and prevent the sale of adulterated food or sacrificial items. Special attention is being directed toward meat and livestock markets, which see a surge in demand during Eid.

Ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply during Eid days was marked as a top priority. The Minister directed officials from the Power Development Department (PDD) and Jal Shakti Department to maintain strict monitoring, conduct necessary repairs in advance, and establish control rooms to address any emergency disruptions swiftly.

Sanitation was also a critical point of discussion. Javid Ahmad Dar called upon municipal authorities and local bodies to ramp up waste collection, especially in and around mosques, Eidgahs, and marketplaces. Clean and hygienic public spaces are essential for ensuring the health and safety of citizens during the large gatherings expected for Eid prayers and celebrations.

The minister further highlighted the importance of interdepartmental coordination, urging departments such as transport, health, animal husbandry, and law enforcement to collaborate efficiently to handle crowd management, traffic flow, medical emergencies, and the smooth distribution of sacrificial animals.

He appreciated the efforts already underway and directed that a real-time monitoring mechanism be put in place to track preparations district-wise, ensuring any issues are addressed promptly. He also asked officials to remain accessible to the public for grievance redressal during the Eid days.

Minister Javid Ahmad Dar assured that the government is committed to ensuring that Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated in a peaceful, joyous, and organized manner, reflective of the region’s rich cultural and religious traditions.

These efforts aim to enhance the overall festive experience for residents while maintaining public order, safety, and hygiene across Kashmir.
