June 27: In a strong push towards environmental sustainability and urban greening, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner jointly spearheaded a Tree Plantation Drive under the banner of the ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ campaign. The initiative took place at multiple urban locations across Jammu city, witnessing enthusiastic participation from municipal staff, school children, NGOs, and local citizens.

The campaign aims to promote ecological balance, improve air quality, and encourage civic responsibility among residents. During the drive, hundreds of saplings of indigenous and environment-friendly species were planted in open spaces, parks, roadside areas, and municipal lands. Special emphasis was laid on community involvement and public awareness, with the message that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Jammu highlighted the urgent need to increase green cover in urban spaces and urged citizens to come forward and make tree plantation a regular part of their civic life. JMC Commissioner reiterated the corporation’s commitment to ensuring a cleaner, greener Jammu through sustained plantation efforts, regular waste management improvements, and citizen-led eco-friendly initiatives.

The event is part of a larger series of environmental activities being organized across the district under the ‘Clean Jammu, Green Jammu’ campaign, which also includes cleanliness drives, awareness rallies, and workshops in schools and colleges.

This collective action reinforces the district administration’s vision of a more sustainable, pollution-free, and climate-resilient Jammu, aligning with national and state-level climate goals.
