JULY 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu, where he expressed deep satisfaction with the institution’s significant progress and growing stature as a premier healthcare and academic hub.
Calling AIIMS Jammu a “symbol of focused planning and dedicated execution,” the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of the institute’s team for creating an environment that combines world-class medical care, advanced research, and quality education under one roof.
During his visit, CM Abdullah interacted with senior officials, doctors, and staff members, acknowledging their commitment to patient care and institutional growth. He appreciated the hospital’s patient-centric approach, which ensures that people from Jammu & Kashmir and neighboring regions receive timely and specialized medical treatment without the need to travel long distances.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening health infrastructure, the Chief Minister assured full support for the future expansion and development of AIIMS Jammu. “This institute reflects the aspirations of our people for modern healthcare facilities, and the government stands firmly behind its mission,” he said.
On the occasion, CM Omar Abdullah also released the Disaster Management Manual prepared by AIIMS Jammu. Terming the manual an important step towards preparedness and resilience, he underlined the critical role of hospitals in responding to emergencies and disasters. “Preparedness saves lives, and this manual will serve as a guiding framework to ensure that AIIMS remains ready to handle crises efficiently,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister emphasized that healthcare institutions should integrate modern technology, continuous training, and robust disaster response systems to address both routine and emergency medical needs. He further praised AIIMS Jammu for setting benchmarks in medical education and clinical excellence, adding that such institutions are vital for reducing healthcare disparities in the region.
AIIMS officials briefed the Chief Minister about the latest medical facilities introduced, ongoing projects, and future plans to enhance patient services and research capabilities. The visit concluded with CM Abdullah reiterating the government’s unwavering support to make AIIMS Jammu a center of excellence on par with global standards.
