AUG 11: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, conducted a detailed review of the arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in the district. The review meeting and inspection visit were part of a series of preparations aimed at ensuring a smooth and grand observance of the national event.
Accompanied by senior district officials, DC Chib visited the S.K. Stadium Bandipora, the designated venue for the main Independence Day function. She inspected the venue’s facilities, seating arrangements, stage setup, sound systems, and security measures. Special focus was laid on ensuring adequate provisions for the comfort and safety of participants and guests, including the availability of drinking water, medical facilities, and traffic management plans.
During the visit, DC Chib interacted with officers from various departments involved in the arrangements. She stressed the importance of coordination among departments to make the celebrations seamless and memorable. Directions were issued to complete all preparatory works within stipulated timelines, with particular emphasis on cleanliness, decoration of the venue, and rehearsal schedules for the parade and cultural performances.
She also reviewed the line-up for the Independence Day parade, which will feature participation from police contingents, school children, and cultural troupes. The event will include patriotic songs, cultural programmes highlighting the nation’s diversity, and the ceremonial unfurling of the Tricolour.
