SEP 07: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), through its Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC), Lucknow, organised a comprehensive conclave at the Amausi Campus on September 6, 2025, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of MSMEs and start-ups for defence research, development, and production. The event was designed to foster collaboration in the development of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.

The conclave brought together over 100 participants, including representatives from MSMEs, start-ups, and Laghu Udhyog Bharti, to deliberate on key aspects such as skill development, funding for R&D, technical consultancy, and technology development & transfer facilitated by DRDO.

In his inaugural address, the DRDO Chairman highlighted that DTTC is a brainchild of Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, which has begun delivering tangible benefits to industries. He apprised participants about industry-focused technologies and policies while emphasising the unique opportunity for MSMEs to actively engage in defence R&D. The Chairman assured that DRDO will extend full support to MSMEs to strengthen Aatmanirbhar Bharat, contributing towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

The Raksha Mantri commended DRDO and the MSMEs for organising the conclave and underscored the critical role of MSMEs in achieving Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of self-reliant India.

The conclave also witnessed the presence of senior dignitaries, including DG (Naval Systems & Materials) Dr RV Hara Prasad, DG (Technology Management) Dr LC Mangal, and DG (Human Resources) Dr Mayank Dwivedi, who interacted with participants and shared insights on fostering innovation, technology adoption, and collaborative ventures in the defence sector.

The event served as a strategic platform to strengthen industry-academia-government collaboration, provide MSMEs with technical guidance, and accelerate defence technology initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, ensuring that small and medium enterprises are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to India’s defence production ecosystem.
