SEP 18:In a significant step towards improving road infrastructure in the region, senior leader and Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather inaugurated the macadamization work on the crucial Chadoora–Brenwar road in Budgam district. This much-needed project spans a total length of 9.9 kilometers and comes with a sanctioned cost of ₹2.15 crore.
The initiative aims to dramatically improve surface connectivity for the residents of Chadoora, Brenwar, and surrounding villages. Once completed, the upgraded road will not only ease travel for commuters but also enhance market accessibility, facilitate smoother transportation of goods, and improve access to healthcare and educational services for the local population.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Abdul Rahim Rather highlighted the broader vision of infrastructure-led development being pursued in Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasized that roads are more than just physical assets—they are the lifelines of economic activity and social integration in remote and rural regions.
Locals and community leaders present at the event expressed their gratitude for the timely launch of the macadamization works. For years, the condition of the Chadoora–Brenwar road has been a matter of concern, especially during harsh winters and rainy seasons, when travel becomes extremely difficult. The new blacktopping work promises a safer, more efficient roadway that will benefit thousands of residents and local businesses.
The project is expected to be completed in a time-bound manner, with quality and durability given top priority. Officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department assured that all technical standards are being strictly adhered to, ensuring long-term sustainability of the upgraded road.
This development marks another milestone in Budgam’s ongoing transformation and reflects the government’s commitment to improving basic infrastructure and bringing equitable development to every corner of the district.
