OCT 22:In a move aimed at strengthening primary healthcare delivery, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, conducted a surprise inspection of Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri and PHC Boniyar in Baramulla district. The visit was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to assess on-ground healthcare facilities and ensure the availability of essential medical services, particularly in rural and remote regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the inspection, the Minister reviewed the overall functioning of the health centres, availability of medicines, diagnostic services, infrastructure, and staff attendance. She interacted with both healthcare workers and patients to gather firsthand feedback on service delivery and challenges faced at the grassroots level.
Emphasizing the importance of a people-centric approach, Sakeena Itoo urged medical staff to uphold accountability, dedication, and compassion in their professional conduct. She reiterated that the government’s mission is to make quality healthcare accessible to every citizen, especially those living in far-flung areas where medical infrastructure remains limited.
“The government is fully committed to ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every household, regardless of geography,” the Minister stated. “Primary health centres are the foundation of our healthcare system, and we are determined to strengthen them with better facilities, manpower, and community engagement.”
She also directed officials to identify gaps in healthcare delivery and take prompt corrective measures. The Minister emphasized regular monitoring, transparency in service delivery, and efficient utilization of available resources.
Her surprise visit reflects the administration’s renewed focus on improving primary healthcare infrastructure, ensuring better patient care, and fostering a responsive public health system across Jammu and Kashmir.
