NOV 07: A delegation from the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Justice (MoJ), accompanied by officials from the British High Commission, met with the Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, and senior officers at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, on November 6, 2025, to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of law and justice.
The UK delegation comprised Mr. David Meyer, Head of International Programmes; Ms. Christina Soper, Head of International Rule of Law; Mr. Paul Scott, Legal Services Senior Policy Advisor; and Ms. Barbora Cindarova, International Engagement Senior Policy Advisor.
Both sides held comprehensive discussions covering key areas such as legislative drafting, Ease of Living initiatives, repeal of obsolete laws, the tribunal system, and gender justice. They also explored opportunities for capacity-building and training programmes for officers from both countries in legislative drafting and governance reforms.
The meeting further reviewed the operational aspects of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and the UK, focusing on mechanisms to enhance its implementation and expand cooperation in emerging areas of mutual interest.
The discussions reflected the shared commitment of India and the United Kingdom to deepen engagement, promote legal innovation, and advance best practices in the justice sector.
