NOV 19: The Information Technology Department today organized a special commemorative programme to mark 150 years of the historic national song Vande Mataram. The event, held at the Civil Secretariat, was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner Secretary IT, Dr. Piyush Singla, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and officials representing various wings of the department.
Senior functionaries including Director Finance (IT), Iftikhar Hussain; Special Secretary (ITD), Shokat Mahmood; Additional Secretary (ITD), Devender Singh Bhau; and Deputy Director Planning, Chaman Lal were present on the occasion. Teams from the IT Cell, State e-Mission Team (SeMT) J&K, and the J&K e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA) also joined the celebrations, adding to the collaborative spirit of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Mahima Madan, CEO JaKeGA, delivered a motivating address highlighting the timeless cultural influence of Vande Mataram and its enduring contribution to strengthening national consciousness. She underscored the song’s role in inspiring unity, collective pride, and patriotic sentiment through generations.
As part of the celebration, all attendees joined in singing Vande Mataram with great zeal and reverence, creating an atmosphere filled with national pride and emotional resonance. The programme not only honoured the song’s historical legacy but also reaffirmed its relevance in shaping India’s collective identity.
The IT Department reiterated its commitment to upholding national values while advancing its mission of digital transformation across Jammu and Kashmir. Officials emphasized that along with technological progress, fostering unity, patriotism, and cultural respect remains central to the department’s vision for citizen-centric governance.
