Jan 21: A three-day Mobile Passport Van Service Camp was inaugurated at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex with the objective of providing accessible and hassle-free passport-related services to residents, particularly those from hilly and far-flung areas. The initiative is being organised in collaboration with the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Jammu.
The camp was formally inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Harvinder Singh (IAS), who highlighted the importance of taking essential public services closer to the people. He said that such mobile initiatives play a crucial role in bridging the service delivery gap for citizens living in remote and geographically challenging regions.
The Mobile Passport Van is equipped to handle various passport-related services, including fresh passport applications, renewal submissions, document verification and biometric data collection. By bringing these services directly to the district headquarters, the administration aims to reduce the need for applicants to travel long distances to passport offices in urban centres.
Officials from the Regional Passport Office Jammu are assisting applicants on-site, ensuring smooth processing and guidance throughout the application procedure. The camp is expected to benefit a large number of applicants who otherwise face logistical and financial challenges in accessing passport services.
The Deputy Commissioner urged eligible residents to make maximum use of the three-day camp and assured that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for orderly and efficient service delivery. Emphasis was also laid on ensuring transparency, timely processing and citizen convenience during the camp.
The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to citizen-centric governance and inclusive service outreach. By leveraging mobile infrastructure, the district administration and the RPO Jammu are working together to ensure that essential services reach every section of society.
Residents welcomed the initiative, terming it a much-needed step towards simplifying passport services and improving access for people living in difficult terrain.
