Jan 25: Shri Badrinath Dham, one of the holiest shrines of Hinduism, witnessed heavy snowfall, leaving the entire shrine complex and surrounding areas blanketed in pristine white. The snowfall, which occurred yesterday, has resulted in an accumulation of around three to four feet of snow across Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand, dramatically transforming the sacred town into a breathtaking winter panorama.
Snow now stretches in all directions around the temple, covering pathways, rooftops, and the mountainous landscape, enhancing the spiritual and natural beauty of the revered Himalayan shrine. The fresh snowfall has significantly lowered temperatures in the region, intensifying winter conditions in the higher reaches of Chamoli district.
Officials said that snowfall of this magnitude is common during peak winter months in the upper Himalayas, and necessary arrangements are already in place to manage weather-related challenges. Pilgrimage activities at Badrinath Dham remain suspended during winter, as the temple doors are traditionally closed, with rituals continuing at the winter seat in Joshimath.
While the snowfall has added to the scenic charm of the region, authorities have advised caution due to slippery conditions, restricted movement, and possible avalanches in nearby high-altitude areas. Local administration and disaster management teams remain alert to ensure safety and preparedness amid harsh weather conditions.
The snow-covered visuals of Badrinath Dham have drawn widespread attention, highlighting the majestic beauty of the Himalayas during winter and reinforcing the region’s importance as both a spiritual and natural treasure of India.
