Jan 26: As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the Government of India has organised a three-day special programme in New Delhi for over 100 interns under the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), drawn from different parts of the country. The initiative reflects the government’s continued emphasis on youth engagement, skill development, and nation-building.
According to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the PMIS interns are attending the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path today as special guests, offering them a unique opportunity to witness one of the country’s most significant national events up close. The experience is aimed at fostering a deeper sense of patriotism and civic responsibility among young participants.
As part of the tour programme, the interns interacted with Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, sharing their learning experiences, aspirations and feedback on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. The interaction provided a platform for interns to reflect on their journey and discuss how the scheme has contributed to their professional and personal growth.
Addressing the interns, Mr Harsh Malhotra said that the Prime Minister Internship Scheme has been designed to empower India’s youth by creating meaningful exposure to real-world work environments. He noted that PMIS serves as a bridge between theoretical education and practical experience, helping young people gain industry-relevant skills and insights.
The Minister further emphasised that initiatives like PMIS are crucial for preparing a future-ready workforce and enabling young citizens to actively contribute to India’s development journey. He encouraged interns to make the most of the opportunities provided under the scheme and to carry forward the values of innovation, dedication, and public service.
The three-day programme in New Delhi includes guided interactions, exposure visits, and participation in national events, making it a memorable and enriching experience for the interns. The presence of PMIS interns at the Republic Day celebrations underlines the government’s commitment to investing in youth potential and integrating young minds into the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
