22 April: In a significant boost to wetland conservation efforts, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav has announced that the Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary has been designated as a Ramsar site.
The recognition under the Ramsar Convention highlights the ecological importance of the wetland and its role in supporting biodiversity, particularly migratory and resident bird species. Ramsar status is granted to wetlands of international importance, ensuring their protection and sustainable management.
