New Delhi, August 20, 2026: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Home and Border Affairs, Yanthungo Patton, met Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to discuss a range of Central government projects and development initiatives in the state.

Patton was accompanied by public representatives from Wokha district during the meeting, which focused on issues related to the implementation and progress of Central projects in Nagaland.

During the interaction, Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the significant transformation witnessed across the North-Eastern region over the past twelve years, attributing the progress to the development-oriented approach of the Government.

He said that the North-East is increasingly becoming an integral part of India’s broader growth and development journey rather than being viewed separately from the country’s overall progress.

The Union Minister underlined the importance of continued cooperation between the Central and state governments for ensuring that development initiatives reach people across the region. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the requirements and priorities of Nagaland, particularly those concerning Wokha district.

The North-East has witnessed increased attention towards infrastructure, connectivity, technology, entrepreneurship and other development sectors in recent years. Improved integration with the rest of the country has also created new opportunities for the region’s economy and its people.

Dr Jitendra Singh emphasised that the development of the North-East remains an important component of India’s overall growth strategy. Better connectivity, stronger infrastructure and effective implementation of Central schemes can further contribute to employment generation and economic opportunities across the region.

The participation of public representatives from Wokha also brought local development priorities into the discussions, allowing issues concerning the district to be highlighted at the Central level.

The meeting comes amid continued efforts to strengthen Centre-state cooperation and accelerate development projects in the North-East. Such interactions are aimed at improving coordination, addressing implementation-related challenges and ensuring that the benefits of government initiatives reach communities at the grassroots level.

The discussions between Yanthungo Patton and Dr Jitendra Singh underline the importance of collaborative efforts between Nagaland and the Centre in advancing development projects and strengthening the state’s contribution to the broader growth story of the North-East.
