New Delhi: All public sector banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will remain open today to facilitate banking services for customers ahead of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike.
The decision has been taken in view of the three-day strike called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), scheduled to begin tomorrow.
The move is intended to provide customers with an additional opportunity to complete essential banking transactions before the proposed strike period.
RBI Approves Full Operations
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the continued operation of bank branches and other key banking infrastructure today.
As per the arrangement, bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and Currency Chests have been permitted to remain fully operational.
Customers have therefore been advised to make use of the banking facilities available today for transactions and other services they may require during the proposed strike.
ATM Charges to Be Waived by Several Banks
In another measure aimed at ensuring continued access to cash during the strike period, several public sector banks have decided to waive ATM transaction charges applicable beyond the free monthly transaction limit during the three-day strike.
The decision is expected to provide customers with additional flexibility in accessing cash from ATMs while regular banking operations may be affected during the strike.
The proposed nationwide strike could impact normal banking services across participating institutions. However, digital banking channels such as internet banking and mobile banking may continue to provide several routine services, subject to individual bank arrangements.
Customers are encouraged to complete time-sensitive branch-related transactions in advance and use available digital and ATM facilities during the strike period.
