Jammu: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu organised a one-day CME-cum-workshop on Paediatric Cardiology, bringing together medical professionals and postgraduate students from across the region to strengthen clinical understanding and management of cardiac conditions in children.
Held under the theme “From Murmur to Management,” the programme was organised by the Department of Paediatrics, AIIMS Jammu, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Jammu Branch.
The academic event brought together paediatricians, cardiologists, neonatologists, CTVS surgeons and postgraduate students from different institutions, creating a platform for professional interaction and knowledge exchange.
Focus on Early Detection and Timely Management
The workshop focused on improving participants’ understanding of paediatric cardiac conditions, particularly the importance of early recognition, accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
The programme featured distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Radhakrishnan S and Dr. Ashish Katewa from Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, along with Dr. Sanjeev Digra, President of the IAP Jammu Branch, and other eminent specialists.
Through expert-led sessions, participants discussed various clinical aspects of paediatric cardiology and management approaches relevant to everyday medical practice.
Interactive Sessions and Hands-On ECHO Workshop
The CME programme included expert lectures, interactive sessions and clinical case discussions, allowing participants to engage with specialists and examine challenging clinical situations.
A key component of the event was the hands-on Paediatric ECHO workshop, which provided participants with practical exposure to paediatric cardiac evaluation.
The practical sessions were designed to help participants strengthen their understanding of cardiac assessment in children while providing an opportunity to discuss complex cases with experienced specialists.
Strengthening Multidisciplinary Paediatric Cardiac Care
The workshop highlighted the importance of collaboration among different medical specialties in managing paediatric cardiac conditions.
The participation of professionals from paediatrics, cardiology, neonatology and cardiothoracic and vascular surgery underlined the multidisciplinary nature of paediatric cardiac care.
The event also emphasised the importance of early recognition, accurate diagnosis, timely referral and coordinated management for children requiring specialised cardiac care.
Through the CME-cum-workshop, AIIMS Jammu provided a platform for healthcare professionals to update their clinical knowledge, exchange experiences and enhance their understanding of contemporary approaches to paediatric cardiac evaluation and management.
