The Indian Army on Wednesday facilitated the repatriation of a girl from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) through the Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing point in Poonch district, following the completion of the required legal formalities.

According to official sources, the girl was identified as Samiya Azeem, a resident of Bains Gala in Seri area of Tehsil Khuiretta, Kotli district. She had been apprehended by Army personnel in the Lam Sector on October 2 after crossing over to the Indian side.

Following the necessary procedures, the Army and concerned authorities facilitated her return through the designated Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing in Poonch on Wednesday morning.

Officials said that all required legal and procedural formalities were completed before the repatriation. The established mechanism was followed to ensure her safe return to the other side.

The Chakkan-Da-Bagh crossing, located in Poonch district, has historically served as an important point for regulated cross-Line of Control movement and humanitarian exchanges.

The latest development comes days after Azeem was apprehended in the Lam Sector. Following verification and completion of the required procedures, arrangements were made for her repatriation.

The Army’s action reflects the established procedures followed by security forces and civil authorities in dealing with individuals who inadvertently cross the Line of Control. Such cases are handled through appropriate verification, coordination and legal processes before repatriation.

The incident also underlines the importance of established channels along the Line of Control for addressing cross-border cases and facilitating the return of individuals after completion of necessary formalities.
