New Delhi, October 17, 2026: Air India and Air India Express have extended the temporary suspension of flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia until October 24, amid the evolving security situation in West Asia.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure following heightened security concerns in the region. The airlines said they were monitoring developments and would keep passengers informed about further updates. The suspension is expected to affect travellers between India and Saudi Arabia, including pilgrims and people travelling for work or family commitments

Passengers Offered Flexible Rebooking Options

To reduce inconvenience, the Air India Group has announced travel flexibility for eligible passengers whose bookings were issued on or before October 15, 2026, for travel between October 9 and October 25.

Eligible passengers can avail themselves of a one-time complimentary date change for travel up to November 10, 2026, subject to the applicable airline conditions. Passengers whose flights have been cancelled may also opt for a full refund if they decide not to travel.

The airlines have also outlined options for rebooking through alternative airports in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, subject to seat availability and the relevant travel requirements.

Passengers are advised to check the latest information directly with their respective airline before travelling to the airport.

Security Situation Continues to Affect Air Travel

The flight suspensions come amid heightened tensions in West Asia following attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement, including reported attacks targeting Saudi Arabia.

The security situation has disrupted aviation operations and prompted airlines to reassess services to affected destinations. The suspension of flights to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam reflects the airlines’ precautionary approach to passenger and crew safety.

Other carriers have also announced changes to their Saudi Arabia schedules, although the affected destinations and suspension periods vary by airline.

Passengers Advised to Check Flight Status

Travellers with upcoming bookings to or from Saudi Arabia should monitor official airline advisories and verify their flight status before making travel arrangements.

Passengers who booked through travel agents should contact their respective agents for assistance where required. Those considering alternative routes should also confirm visa and entry requirements before finalising their plans.

Air India and Air India Express have said they will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as the situation evolves.
