UDHAMPUR, Apr 15: Provincial NC president Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta has claimed that collapse of a bridge in Udhampur has exposed the tall claims of unprecedented development in J&K being made by the government at the Centre as well in J&K.
Addressing a workers meeting at Tikri, Udhampur in which he was chief guest, Gupta said that people of the area were repeatedly raising the demand of construction of a permanent bridge at Beni Sangam Temple in Chenani but the Government had turned a deaf ear to their genuine demand resulting which the temporary bridge collapsed causing death of a minor girl and injuries to many.
The meeting was presided over by Sunil Verma, District NC president Udhampur and was organized by Manmohan Verma, Block NC president Tikri. Rattan Lal also said that it was the responsibility of the administration for making necessary arrangements and police was also not deputed to control the rush during festival at the temple.
He also expressed concern over the shortage of teachers in Government schools and medicos at health centres and shortage of Government officials almost in all the departments.
Earlier, Sunil Verma apprised the senior functionaries of the Party about the problems being faced by the people of Udhampur district with regard to non availability of basic amenities.
Abdul Ghani Malik, former minister and Zonal NC president Udhampur-Reasi; Vijay Lochan, Provincial president SC Cell of NC and Pardeep Bali, Provincial secretary Jammu also spoke on the occasion.
