JULY 23: Minister Sakeena Itoo recently conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing construction work on the crucial Brazloo Bridge in Kulgam. During her visit, she directed the concerned departments and executing agencies to expedite the pace of construction while strictly adhering to quality standards.
The 378-meter-long bridge, which is being constructed on the vital National Highway-444 (NH-444), is expected to significantly enhance road connectivity between Kulgam and Srinagar. Once completed, the bridge will not only reduce travel time but also provide a safer and more reliable route for commuters, traders, and transport services.
Minister Itoo emphasized the importance of maintaining high-quality construction practices, stating that the project is a critical infrastructure link for the region. She instructed engineers and project managers to remove all bottlenecks that could delay the work, ensuring its timely completion. “Brazloo Bridge is not just a structure but a lifeline for improving connectivity, boosting trade, and enhancing economic opportunities for the people of Kulgam,” she remarked.
Officials briefed the minister about the current progress of the bridge, which is being built with modern engineering techniques to withstand heavy traffic and weather conditions. The bridge is expected to play a pivotal role in improving access to healthcare, education, and markets, benefitting thousands of residents in the district.
Sakeena Itoo also stressed the need for regular monitoring of the construction work. She directed the authorities to ensure transparency and proper utilization of funds, while adhering to all safety measures during the execution of the project.
The Brazloo Bridge, once operational, will serve as a key link on NH-444, strengthening the road network of South Kashmir and significantly improving connectivity between Kulgam and the capital city of Srinagar. The project is being closely monitored by the government as part of its larger vision to upgrade infrastructure across the region.
Residents of Kulgam have welcomed the minister’s proactive approach and expressed optimism that the bridge will soon be completed, marking a new milestone in the district’s development journey.
