AUG 25: Amidst the inclement weather conditions, Union Minister reviewed the situation arising out of the recent cloudburst in Kishtwar’s Chishoti area through video conferencing from Jammu. Due to adverse weather, the visit to the affected region could not take place, but the Minister assured that continuous monitoring and assessment of the situation is being carried out.
Expressing satisfaction over the coordinated efforts on the ground, the Minister commended the State administration, Indian Army, NDRF, SDRF, and J&K Police for their swift and effective response during the crisis. He acknowledged the dedication of rescue teams who worked tirelessly in challenging conditions to ensure the safety of the affected population.
Highlighting the Central Government’s commitment, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, all necessary steps are being taken to provide relief and rehabilitation to those affected by this tragic natural calamity. “The Government of India is leaving no stone unturned in supporting the people of Jammu & Kashmir in this hour of grief,” he emphasized.
The cloudburst has caused significant loss of property and livelihood in Chishoti, with several families displaced and infrastructure damaged. Relief camps have been set up, and essential supplies are being provided to the affected families. Medical teams have also been deployed to extend healthcare support.
Authorities are ensuring immediate relief measures, while longer-term rehabilitation plans are being framed to restore normalcy in the affected areas. Special attention is being given to vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly.
The Minister assured that both short-term relief and long-term rehabilitation efforts will continue with full commitment, stressing that the welfare of the affected families remains the government’s top priority.
The people of Kishtwar have also been urged to remain cautious, as the region continues to face the risk of heavy rainfall, landslides, and flash floods in the coming days.
