OCT 15: The Ministry of Tourism successfully organized a two-day State Tourism Ministers’ Meet in Udaipur on October 14–15, 2025, bringing together Tourism Ministers and senior officials from all States and Union Territories to discuss transformative strategies for India’s tourism sector.
The landmark consultation aimed to advance the Prime Minister’s “One State: One Global Destination” vision, announced in the Union Budget 2025–26. The initiative seeks to develop at least one globally benchmarked tourist destination in every State and UT, contributing to India’s Viksit Bharat roadmap.
Union Minister of Tourism & Culture, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Secretary (Tourism), Ms. V. Vidyavathi, led the deliberations. Shri Shekhawat underscored the importance of cooperative federalism and active private sector participation in realizing the vision. “By combining our collective strength, we can create destinations that reflect India’s diversity while meeting global standards of experience, infrastructure, and sustainability,” he stated.
Over two days, the meeting focused on two key strategies — Destination Development and Destination Management. States and UTs presented concepts for developing iconic destinations under two main pillars:
-
Development of 50 Tourist Destinations: Emphasizing private sector-led growth.
-
Performance Linked Incentives (PLI): Introducing a Destination Maturity Model to encourage excellence in destination management.
Regional presentations highlighted potential global destinations, while detailed discussions were held on the draft Integrated Tourism Promotion Scheme Guidelines.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Shri Suman Billa, Additional Secretary & DG (Tourism), who expressed gratitude for the valuable inputs and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to a sustainable, globally competitive tourism ecosystem
