JULY 01: Shri Rahul Rasgotra, Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), called on Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, today at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar. The meeting focused on the current security landscape, operational preparedness, and welfare of ITBP personnel deployed across the Union Territory.
During the discussion, DG Rasgotra briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the force’s deployment strategy along the critical border regions, especially in high-altitude and strategically sensitive areas. He highlighted the challenges faced by personnel posted in extreme terrains and weather conditions, and shared updates on measures being taken to strengthen infrastructure and logistics support for the troops.
The Lieutenant Governor acknowledged and appreciated the dedicated service of the ITBP in securing India’s borders, especially in the northern frontier regions. He also praised the force’s vital role in maintaining peace, extending support to civil administration, and ensuring smooth conduct of high-profile public and religious events, such as the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
LG Sinha emphasized the importance of continuous coordination between central armed police forces and the civil administration to maintain internal security and public order. He also took note of the force’s contribution to disaster management, civic action programmes, and outreach initiatives in remote communities.
The meeting also included discussions on the welfare and morale of ITBP personnel. DG Rasgotra informed the LG about ongoing efforts to improve living conditions, healthcare, and training facilities for the force. He also reiterated the ITBP’s commitment to national security and vowed to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service.
The Lieutenant Governor assured full cooperation from the Jammu and Kashmir administration in addressing the operational needs and welfare requirements of ITBP personnel stationed in the region. He expressed confidence in the continued synergy between the UT administration and central forces in safeguarding the interests of the people and the nation.
