20 May: Doda district is witnessing a significant shift towards digital education as government schools in remote and far-flung areas are being equipped with modern learning tools to improve access to quality education.
Officials said nearly 50 educational institutions across rural parts of the district have already been digitised under ongoing efforts to modernise government schools and bridge the educational gap between urban and remote regions.
Chief Education Officer Bhushan Kumar Pathak stated that the initiative is helping students in distant villages connect with teachers, subject experts, and learning resources from different parts of India and abroad through online platforms and digital classrooms.
The move reflects growing emphasis on integrating technology into the education sector, particularly in geographically challenging areas where access to advanced learning opportunities has traditionally remained limited.
According to education department officials, digital classrooms and online learning systems are enabling students to participate in interactive sessions, virtual lectures, and technology-driven educational activities designed to improve learning outcomes and classroom engagement.
Students from the digitised schools have welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important step towards bringing modern education facilities to government institutions in rural areas.
Many students said the use of digital tools has made learning more engaging and has provided exposure to educational content and teaching methods that were previously unavailable in remote schools.
Education experts believe that digital learning infrastructure can play a transformative role in improving educational accessibility, especially in hilly and underserved districts like Doda.
The initiative is also expected to help reduce educational disparities by giving rural students better access to online resources, smart learning technologies, and expert academic guidance.
Officials noted that technology-based education systems became increasingly important after the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the need for digital connectivity and online learning capabilities in schools across the country.
The digitisation of schools is part of broader efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and improve the quality of learning in government institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
Teachers associated with the programme said digital tools have improved classroom interaction and helped students better understand subjects through audio-visual content and online educational support.
At the same time, authorities acknowledged that continued improvement in internet connectivity, electricity supply, and technical support remains important for ensuring the long-term success of digital education initiatives in remote areas.
Experts say investments in digital learning can help prepare students for future academic and professional opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The initiative in Doda highlights how rural education systems are gradually adapting to modern learning practices while attempting to provide students with opportunities comparable to those available in urban schools.
Officials expressed hope that more schools in the district would be digitised in the coming phases to further strengthen educational access and technological inclusion in remote regions.
