JUNE 19: In a comprehensive review meeting held to assess the progress of ongoing digital governance initiatives, Secretary IT, Dr. Piyush Singla, evaluated the implementation status of key programs under the Digital Jammu & Kashmir Mission. The meeting brought together senior officials from the IT Department and allied agencies to discuss milestones achieved and future strategies.
Dr. Singla commended the successful rollout of e-Office 2.0, which has now been adopted by over 480 departments and institutions across the Union Territory. With more than 30,000 active users, the platform has significantly streamlined file management, enhanced administrative efficiency, and reduced paperwork, marking a major step toward a paperless government ecosystem.
He stressed the importance of deepening the digital footprint by extending e-Governance initiatives to the block and tehsil levels, ensuring that the benefits of technology reach the grassroots and enhance service delivery for rural populations. Expanding digital access and transparency at the last mile, he noted, is essential to achieving inclusive governance.
The Secretary also appreciated the innovative efforts being made under the Digital J&K Mission, particularly highlighting platforms such as the Mobile Dost App, which brings essential citizen services directly to users’ smartphones, and the Auto-Appeal System, which enables automated grievance redressal and accountability through time-bound action.
Special mention was made of the e-UNNAT platform, which currently integrates over 1,212 online services, ranging from certificates, licenses, utility bill payments, and welfare applications, all accessible through a unified digital interface. Dr. Singla emphasized that such platforms symbolize the government’s commitment to providing citizen-centric, efficient, and transparent governance.
He urged departments to ensure continuous improvement in user experience, service availability, and timely resolution of service-related issues. Integration of AI-enabled analytics and feedback mechanisms was also encouraged to optimize performance and policy planning.
The meeting concluded with a clear directive to accelerate the rollout of remaining digital services and ensure training of departmental personnel to increase adoption. Dr. Singla reiterated the vision of building a digitally empowered Jammu & Kashmir where technology bridges gaps, reduces manual delays, and enhances trust in public institutions.
