SEP 28: The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS), New Delhi, successfully concluded its three-week Orientation Training Programme for newly promoted Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners (APFCs). The valedictory session was addressed by Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), who praised the Academy for nurturing future leaders of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) with values of knowledge, empathy, and integrity.
The programme combined academic rigor with experiential learning. Trainees engaged in sessions on customer-centric service, ethics, landmark court judgments, audio-visual learning, and design thinking. A unique highlight was the pioneering module on “Compassion in Governance”, designed by Shri Sanjay Rai, RPFC-I, making it the first of its kind in the country. Trainees also underwent outbound team-building training, weekly assessments, and case-based learning exercises.
Shri Krishnamurthi congratulated the officer trainees and emphasized the importance of EPFO’s core values in serving over 30 crore subscribers. He released booklets authored by participants, which included book reviews, reflections, and creative projects like the “Delicious Initiative.” He also noted EPFO’s recent reforms, including the revamped Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) system, which now features advanced validations for compliance, automatic calculations of damages and interest, and better error control.
Shri Kumar Rohit, Additional CPFC (Hq) and Director, PDUNASS, highlighted the Academy’s evolving teaching methods that blend domain knowledge with behavioral training. He encouraged trainees to prioritize grievance redressal and citizen satisfaction as pillars of compassionate governance.
The curriculum, with 50% focus on behavioral and leadership development, featured faculty from premier institutions like the National Institute of Design, NLU Delhi, V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, and India Centre for Governance.
Outstanding participants were recognized for classroom performance, outbound training excellence, and extracurricular activities including sports, yoga, and creative initiatives.
The programme provided the newly promoted APFCs with a well-rounded foundation in professional skills, ethics, and empathetic governance, preparing them to strengthen India’s social security framework.
