OCT 11: Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar today chaired a high-level meeting to assess the preparedness of hospitals and district administrations in Jammu Division to prevent a surge in Dengue cases. The meeting brought together senior officials, including Deputy Commissioners of Udhampur, Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, Director Urban Local Bodies, Principal GMC Jammu, Director Health Services Jammu, Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, malariologists, and other concerned doctors.
The officials presented a year-wise comparative analysis of Dengue incidence and identified vulnerable hotspots within the division. A detailed discussion was held on preventive strategies, including hospital readiness, availability of medical equipment, staffing, and timely interventions to control Dengue outbreaks.
Div Com Ramesh Kumar directed the Deputy Commissioners to prepare comprehensive action plans in coordination with Health Departments, Urban Local Bodies, BDOs, and District Malaria Officers. He emphasized the importance of clearly defined points of action to prevent the spread of Dengue.
In addition, the Divisional Commissioner highlighted the need for intensified awareness campaigns to educate the public on Dos and Don’ts for Dengue prevention. Health officials were instructed to share real-time Dengue case data with municipal authorities to enable timely implementation of anti-Dengue measures, including fumigation and vector control.
The Principal of Government Medical College Jammu briefed the Div Com on the hospitals’ preparedness to handle Dengue patients, ensuring that adequate medical staff, beds, and equipment are available for any surge in cases.
This proactive review underscores the administration’s commitment to public health safety, coordinated civic action, and effective hospital management, aimed at minimizing Dengue-related risks in Jammu Division during the peak season.
